Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań, Poland

Tour 1:

Adam Mickiewicz University - Uprising Monument - Grand Theatre – Imperial Castle – 1956 Uprising Museum – Enigma

From the Collegium Minus UAM (1) we're heading down Święty Marcin street. Vis a vis Collegium Minus there is a characteristic building of the Academy of Music, and further down, behind Święty Marcin – Aleje Niepodległości crossing, there is a building of the Economic University of Poznań.

Walking down Święty Marcin on the left we are passing the monument of victims of political bloody uprisings against communism (2), the so called Poznań Three Crosses.

Behind the monument there is a park with a cult fountain. In the depths of the park we see Grand Theatre (Teatr Wielki) (3) with Pegasus on the roof.

Behind the crossing with Aleje Niepodległości street is a huge complex of the Imperial Castle (Zamek Cesarski) (4), with an interesting interior. In particular, the castle houses the Museum of 1956 Uprising (Muzeum Czerwca 1956) (5).

In front of the main entrance to the castle one can see a very characteristic cubical pavilon with the Enigma exhibition (Wystawa Enigmy) (6).

From this point it is worth to take a look back in the direction of Kaponiera rondo, finally remodeled and Bałtyk - a very new business centre.

We recommend two nearby restaurants: Kuchnia Wandy (7) and Pod Pretekstem (8), where your walking tour could end with a dinner. A 15 minutes walk away there are two more recommended places: Oskoma (9) and Dąbrowskiego 42 (10), which you find in the nearby district Jeżyce.
